The best part about writing and sharing ideas is the feedback and the chance to reflect on my work. I truly appreciate the constructive feedback. It gives me a chance to think about things from a different perspective. Recently, I shared a t-shirt design with the Good Men Great Dads circle logo on the front. The four words in the logo are Family, Fitness, Finance, and Faith. The design was well received and a few guys mentioned they liked the design but they were not sure about the “faith” component, as they were not religious.
I certainly understand. I am a Christian, but Good Men Great Dads is meant to be a resource for everyone. I don't wish to exclude or push my beliefs on anyone. I added the word faith because it has played a significant role in my life and I wouldn’t be the man I am today without the influence of faith.
So I asked myself: “Does faith still play a part in the journey of someone who is not religious?”
The word has different meanings and connotations to everyone. Looking to the dictionary, among the plethora of mentions of God and religion, I found these three definitions for faith:
- Complete trust or confidence in someone or something.
- Fidelity to one's promises –sincerity of intentions
If you look at the word faith from a non-religious context- these three definitions are a pretty accurate description of a great leader. This is the man I strive to be for my family. Loyal to a fault, impeccable with my word, and completely devoted to the wellbeing of my family. I have faith in myself that I can become a better man and provide the best life possible for my family.
I would love to hear your ideas on faith. Please feel free to leave a comment below or send me an email at email@example.com.
